Oliver
Oliver and Company is probably the least appreciated Disney movie ever, and yet it is excellent. It will gain a new found appreciation with it's 20th anniversary re-release on DVD on February 3 2009.
A classic story inspired by Charles Dickens' novel "Oliver Twist," OLIVER & COMPANY is a fun-filled, action-packed musical adventure with voices by one of the most talented casts in Disney history. The film blends interesting characters, hip songs, and fast paced adventure into a classic movie. The story begins in New York City, where Oliver, an orphaned kitten, is befriended by Dodger, a carefree, street savvy mutt. The little cat is welcomed by Dodger's pack of pickpocket pooches, including dim-witted Einstein, ravishing Rita, and live-wire Tito. This family of misfits runs into trouble when the evil Sykes and his two daunting dobermans schemes to kidnap the little rich girl who just adopted Oliver. It's up to the brave kitten and his new friends to come to the rescue. With five original songs and the musical talents of Billy Joel, Bette Midler, and Huey Lewis OLIVER & COMPANY is a masterpiece that should be added to your Disney collection.
Songs include "Why Should I Worry?" and "Streets of Gold" with characters Dodger and Rita. During "Why Should I Worry?" there are Peg (she found a home!), Jock, and Trusty from Lady and the Tramp, and a dalmatian who resembles Pongo. There are a lot of cute dogs in this movie who only appear for a second..like the two in the convertible during the WSIW reprise that Dodger and Tito gawk at until Rita pulls Dodge away. Sykes is one of the meanest Disney Villains ever-- He's got a scary car and scary dogs. This movie is funny, the chase scene exciting.
